The song is inspired by the artist's experience with trauma. It's about the very presence of trauma in all of us, partly without even actively knowing and how we can overcome them to get to be our truest and most authentic selves. The speeches used in the song are out of the documentary The Wisdom of Trauma'. Many if not all have experienced trauma, even if they are not aware that what they experienced was in fact trauma.
